Cad/Cam System Technology
The use of advanced 3D CNC Technology has been a vital feature of the successful growth in Triune Engineering's toolmaking business. The large CNC milling section is DNC linked to the computer offices which also have the latest three dimensional design and manufacturing software. Triune uses its years of experience to help create products that suit the casting and moulding process and to give customers the die or mould reliability they need.
Triune operates several 3D CAD stations, utilising three differentce systems, all networked together so that design data can be transferred. All the CNC milling machines are also linked to this network.
The systems utilised are as follows;
Pathtrace Edgemill
The system has been operating for over eighteen years, programming machine cycles, mainly for work on bolsters, ejector plates, back plates and risers. Also 2-dimensional profiles.
Delcam Powershape / Powermill 3D Surface Modelling & Machining
This system, which has been in operation for fourteen years, models the more complex 3D surfaces and also produces the NC programmes for machining the 3-dimensional steel die/mould parts.
Visi Machining Strategist
Three systems have been in operation for five years, it is now the main cam tool for producing the NC machining cycles on the complex 3D shapes. Having Machining Strategist in conjunction with our specialised high speed milling machine, the Huron KX10, means we can machine the most complex 3D shapes. This machine together with Machining Strategist represents a major investment by Triune in the latest technological advances. Our HSM is regularly laser calibrated, it has a maximum spindle speed of 24,000 rpm. We have worked in close liaison with Hitachi and Mitsubishi to utilise the latest cutter technology. We have used carbide cutting tools as small as 0.2mm diameter. The combination of using this latest technology produces outstanding results in quality and accuracy.
Charmilles Die-Sink Technology
Triune has invested in the latest high technology Charmilles Electro-Discharge Die Sink machines.
Triune has:
Two Roboform 400 CNC die sink machines, incorporating a 20 position tool changer.
One Roboform 41 CNC die sink machine, incorporating a 20 position tool changer.
One Roboform 41 CNC, the first one imported into the UK, has a 5 position tool changer, and it will accept larger and heavier electrodes, therefore giving a much wider scope of work piece.
The key features of these CNC machines are:
- Workpiece accessibility
- A three sided drop tank on the Roboform 400 gives complete access for loading.
- All machines are fitted with automatic toolchangers.
- A high-inertia C-Axis for heavy and large electrodes.
